Mitt hjerte altid vanker 1

Beatiful new album from Ingebrigt and Håkon.Religious Psalms interpreted by jazzmusicians.

It’s been just a week since the album »Mitt hjerte altid vanker • I« by the trio Ingebrigt Håker Flaten / Håkon Kornstad / Jon Christensen was released in Sweden, but it already’s got some pretty nice reviews, thank you. Johannes Cornell writes in Dagens Nyheter (mars 23) that »The psalms are in them self melodic memories or testimony about the past, put in the trio’s free and poetic way of playing every piece reoccur.« He gives it a 4 out of 5.
Magnus Nilsson gives the album 5 out of 5 in Smålandsposten (mars 23): »With an enormous sense of the sheer material and a strong balanced performance for the trio, [the musicians take] the Nordic tone that we keep hearing about to a new level, unlike any other Scandinavian jazz.«
In Dalademokraten (mars 22) Lennart Götesson claims that »this is absolutely the best jazz I’ve heard from Norway«, while Thord Ehnberg in Ljusnan (mars 7) writes: »It’s three musicians who here offers supremely responsive interaction and content-rich bold solo improvisations«.
Last but not least, music reviewer Lennart Olausson gives Compunctio some extra love in the magazine Ikon: »…I admit it, I’m completely sold on everything Compunctio has released so far. My expectations for this release was therefore skyrocketing. But as I listened through the album a few times, I must confess one more thing: The expectations were not high enough. This is fantastic!«
