SHINING was formed 1999 when Jørgen Munkeby needed to create a band for a scheduled performance, and chose the three other musicians without ever hearing them perform previously. After a few rehearsals, they performed a concert in Jørgen’s home town of Tønsberg, Norway, and the musical relationship proved so successful that they immediately decided to form a band. SHINING has performed at the major jazz festivals across Europe. In November of 2002, they embarked on a two-week tour of China, also performing at the Shanghai International Arts Festival to great acclaim.
