Propably his most widely known oeuvre is the musical adaption of Nikos Kazantzakis' novel "Zorba The Greek" (also successfully put onto the big screen as an epic movie featuring Anthony Quinn in the role of Zorba), various symphonic versions of which have been celebrated enthusiastically in numerous concert arenas everywhere in the world. "Zorba's Dance" is long since a synonym for 'greek music', the works of Theodorakis -- including an abundance of classical cycles like 'Canto General', 'Canto Olympico' a.m.o. -- a most appreciated treasure to a large community of music lovers all around the globe.
