Live In Hamburg

In March 1981, Radka Toneff performed with Steve Dobrogosz, Arild Andersen and Alex Riel at "Onkel Pö" in Hamburg. This was the group she worked with between 1980 and 1982, and fortunately this recording was made by Norddeutscher Rundfunk. The album was released more than ten years after Radka Toneff's death, and is together with the "Fairytales" album the most cherished of Odin's productions.

About Radka Toneff:

Norways most beloved jazzsinger. After her tragic death in 1982 she is still today (besides Karin Krog and Sidsel Endresen) the icon for norwegian jazzvocalists and probably the main reason for all those unique female voices coming from Norway. Like Sidsel Endresen (a student of Radka), Elin Rosseland, Solveig Slettahjell, Silje Nergaard and many many others they are all influenced by Radkas outstanding singing and musicianship. I think all of us norwegian jazzmusicians think of her and what she would have become..

alltough working for many years touring with her own group all over Europe, performing togehter with bassist Arild Andersen, drummers Alex Riel / Jon Christensen, pianists Jon Balke / Steve Dobrogosz and guitar player Jon Eberson she only released three albums ending with the absolutely amazingly fantastic Fairytales (1982). Afterwards hovewever several liveconcerts have been released with great success, confirming her uniqe talent. I do remember myself back in 198...
