Radka Toneff - Steve Dobrogsz - Fairytales
Was listening to this album over and over again back in the early 80s. Beauty, Melancholy and such personal versions of famous songs. A no. 1 for most norwegian jazz artists also today.
Some of my close friends and heroes on this one. Jon Balke, pianist hooked up with supertalented drummer Audun Kleive and amazingly personal trumpet player and vocalist Per Jørgensen mid 80s and created the trio Jøkleba. Again a "breaking the way" for most of us norwegians.
Still remember one of their first concerts in '82 in my hometown. Jon Christensen and Arild Andersen hooked up with young supertalents Nils Petter Molvær, Tore Brunborg and Jon Balke creating perhaps one of the most energetic bands in modern times.
My first recording of a jazz album being a part of Talisman. Fusion of worldmusic, Jazz and allready exposing my first impulses of electronic music. Featuring one my favourite electric Bassists Sveinung Hovensjø (Terje Rypdal and more..)
A remarkable vocalist and composer. Together with Radka, Sidsel Endresen and Karin Krog the most influential voice for following scandinavian vocalists. Listen!
My first "real" jazz recording with fantastic! musicians like Jon Christensen, Tore and Anders Jormin. My perhaps greatest lesson in music.
Another lesson in music. Meeting and performing with Arild Andersen taught me most of what I know about music today. Also joining traditional music for my first time with incredible Kirsten Bråthen Berg - vocals and Nana Vasconcelos - Percussion. Another lesson and still ringing in my ears.
Knut Reiersrud and Iver Kleive - Blå Koral
Blues guitar and Churchorgan. What a beautiful combination! One of my guitar heroes Knut Reiersrud. This music will touch you directly!
Masha & Marjan Vadat - I am Eve
Beautiful music from Persia. My love for world music is growing by the day. Timeless, reachable regardless of background. Travelling most of the world has taught me the most important thing. We (99.9% of the worlds population) follow the same dream. Peace, love, safety and possibilities for themselves and their families. In a media world where differences and hate sell more than peace and love this matter is easily forgotten. Music speaks the language of love and respect, across all languages, cultures and borders. Listening to Masha and Marjan's music brings back these ideals. Let's hope for the people of Iran! We Are One.
Hilde Torgersen - Voice Stories
If you would like to check out contemporary music you should really try this one! Challenging but also absolutely stunningly beautiful music. Composers are Vinhao, Scelsi, Nono and others. Mix of Hilde's superb classical voice and experimental electronic sounds. Try It!
Will change albums regulary.

Thanks for sharing this! We are always looking for music that inpired artists we love. I can sense that you are returning to your roots in your latest albums, Bugge. An important part of these roots is Norwegian jazz and folk. A kind of melancholy or Norwegian "mood" combined with the love of real acoustic instruments and organic sound is also the basic motivation for many of the albums in your desert island list :)
