The duo work through the themes each of the pieces suggests to them - this is not straight-ahead interpretation of the mechanics of the musical notes, the melodies, the harmonies, the chordal structures: this is about the feeling, often spiritual, that each piece is embued with. The inclusion of Keith Jarret's "Death and The Flower" seems appropriate, and in this context, one could almost believe that it too had the same source as the rest of the music.
This album contains an emotional depth and warmth without even coming close to sentimentality: pure musical spirit.
