Ivan Mazuze got a Award nominee for Best Contemporary Jazz album of the year 2010 at the SAMA awards (South African music awards).Finalist of Debut'09 for Best World Music Group at the Oslo World Music festival, Norway in 2009.Winner at the Old Mutual Jazz Competiton for Best Composition, 2001, South Africa. Ivan is currently promoting his debut album Maganda which was released in Cape town, South Africa on January 8th, 2009. The album is a reflection of Mazuze's musical journey and experiences in jazz and African music.Mazuze has a long list of merits and has performed and recorded with internationally acclaimed South African and Mozambican artists such as Jonathan Butler, Hotep Galeta, Jimmy Dludlu, Judith Sephuma, Tucan Tucan, Dondo, Stewart Sukuma to name few and been featured at numerous international music festivals in southern Africa, south America as well as in Europe.

Born and educated partly in Mozambique, saxophonist Ivan Mazuze came to South Africa in 2000, where he has completed his education with a Bachelor degree in jazz performance (2004) and a Masters degree in ethnomusicology (2007) at University of Cape Town (UCT). Ivan is currently promoting his debut album Maganda which was released in South Africa on January 8th, 2009. The album is a reflection of Ivan’s musical journey and experiences in jazz and African music.

Ivan has performed with internationally acclaimed South African and Mozambican artists and been featured at numerous international music festivals in southern Africa and as well some in Europe.

Mazuze also writes ethno-musicological articles about music and trance in ritual practices, which has been released in the educational magazine The Talking Drum (2007, no.28).
